Are you in the market for a bunk bed or bunk beds. I will bet that there were hardwood bunks and lots of them. Now let's move forward a little in time to the age of possibly joining the military.

Remember back to when you were a kid and you went to either summer camp or church camp. Look back at the old west, every western movie you ever saw had at least one scene or another that featured a cowboy waking up from a night's sleep in a hardwood bunk. This wasn't just by chance, as the people of that era had to make the most of a small amount of living space. Ever see a metal bunk bed in a history museum.

My vote would be for the traditional hardwood bunks as they tend to be much more reliable and versatile than the contemporary metal bunks of today. We can still see some of these models around today in museums.

If so, will you look for a contemporary metal bunk or go with the traditional hardwood variety. What type of sleeping arrangements did you find there. The pioneers used hardwood bunks in their log cabins.
