| I already have the perfect blank canvas. I simply can't watch an episode of Mad Men, the hit series that shows us the lives of NY's Ad men in the 1950s and 60s, without drooling over the wonderful interiors.
With this in mind I have decided to set about re designing my own living room to pay homage to this great era. Leslie Day fabrics, Danish furniture, muted autumnal shades. Fortunately, it won't be necessary. All I need to do is change a few textiles, add some accessories and wall stickers the look will be achieved without major upheaval. The only problem is that I have a very limited budget and I can't be bothered to redecorate again. Hardwood strip flooring soft grey walls and a modern neutral sofa. The Stockholm Blad curtains in brown are a perfect fit; autumn leaves are a nod to the textiles of Lucienne. It's not saccharin like the chintzy Cath Kidston style but it's a lot easier to live with than 1960s space age modernism.
I love the 1950s Modernist revival. |
